Mobile Phone Backup
Mobile Business Magazine, leading business publication in the UK's mobile phone
sector, reported on 30th November 2006 that a mobile phone is stolen every
12 seconds in the UK.
This was previously estimated at 1.3 million phones being stolen in 2006.
No wonder that the BBC reported that half of all street crime in London and 40%
in the West Midlands involves the theft of a mobile phone!
A quarter of mobile phone thefts occur when people are using their phones in
public or they have the phone on full view. 90% of robberies are carried out by
males, usually in groups, and thefts can involve violence or the threat of violence.
And you don't just have to worry about having your phone stolen: even more phones
are lost rather than stolen each year - a staggering 1.6 million at the last count!
We hope that it doesn't happen to you, but if you had your phone stolen - or
you lost it somewhere - tomorrow, would you have a backup for your mobile phone's
address book?
This brilliant mobile phone backup software allows you to control your phone from
your PC. After downloading and installing the software to a PC, you can connect your
phone via cable, Bluetooth, or IrDA. You will then be able to view the entire contents
of your phone on your PC, and synchronise, add, edit or delete anything you wish.
Thousands of different phone models are supported so you can backup your phone, and
also use it to transfer content when you change phones.
Water water everywhere
Mobile phone theft isn't the only problem experienced by owners of mobile phones:
the smaller and lighter they get, the easier it appears to lose them!
Water damage is a common problem. Just look at these amazing figures for
2006: 600,000 were dropped in the toilet, 400,000 were dropped in drinks, and
200,000 ended up in washing machines!
Yet some low cost mobile phone insurances do not cover for loss or water damage.
This has resulted in some people fraudulently stating their phone was stolen in
order to claim on their insurance: in a recent police survey, for example, 13% of
people who had claimed admitted during an amnesty, that their claims had been bogus.
So a key feature of any mobile
phone insurance is cover for loss and water damage, as well as theft. And our
mobile phone insurance is now available from just 8p a day! Why pay up to £1000 to
replace your phone or PDA?!
Robust phones
Most mobile phones are pretty robust, but they weren't designed to be dropped on pavements,
roads, or the floor, and many do not survive this "test"! After the physical shock to the phone
comes the shock to the wallet, when you find out that the mobile phone - which came "free" or
at quite low cost - was heavily subsidised by the network operator, and a replacement is going
to cost you a lot of cash.
Unless of course, you have taken out mobile
phone insurance! And remember that the insurance doesn't replace your phone book! Your mobile
phone contacts remain lost unless you have backed up your mobile phone.
